We are open 7 a.m to 7 p.m. with flexibility. We restrict who can handle pick up and drop off activities as part of our process. That may mean there are times during the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. window that we are not available. We prefer pick up and drop off times between 7-10 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. so we can devote time to helping the dogs adjust to their temporary pack.
We don't have any blanket restrictions. However, it is very important to us that our guests have a great experience and that watching them fit into our lifestyle.
Some general guidelines: 1) we don't want females within a month of their last heat; 2) we are selective with unneutered males based on behavior. We handle this on a case by case basis.
Very seldom have we found guests that aren't a great fit for our setup. In those cases, we do what we can to help pair you with accommodations that will work best for your dog.
We ask for all our guests to be up to date on their vaccinations for their safety and the safety of other pets in our care. We don't maintain records of our own, but ask for that as a courtesy.
We work from home and pet care is baked into our daily/weekly routine. Below is the typical Mon-Fri schedule. Weekends deviate from this schedule slightly based on family commitments.
A DAY AT TALLEY'S HOUSE:
They are out of the kennel interacting with dogs and people most of the day. We do update each family with pictures and information throughout their stay.
PROCESS: We have been trained in behavior recognition to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our guests. When we have multiple guests, we group dogs as needed (by age, size, "fixed" or not, temperament, and/or energy level) to optimize the experience for each guest. We feed them in a kennel to ensure food isn't shared and give them quiet time after meals to ensure they have adequate time to digest before playing again. When a new dog arrives give them time to explore on their own, then we gradually introduce them to other dogs to assess temperament and compatibility. We try to limit pick up and drop off times so we can devote that critical time.
ENVIRONMENT: We have a dedicated space both indoors and outdoors for the dogs.
Inside we have an air-conditioned apartment dedicated to the dogs. They have a couch, area rug, background music, and their own space (a 4x4, 4x6, or 5x5 kennel). We reserve a corner for a workstation where we work during the day.
Outside we have a fenced area for the dogs with turf and toys. We setup a canopy for extra shade on hot sunny days since we don't have mature landscaping yet. We wet the turf down on hot days to ensure it's comfortable for the dogs as well.
We have a very high rate of satisfaction because we are a great fit for most dogs. However, we also have a indicators for you to consider when evaluating Talley's House:
Talley’s House has two adults that work from home, two teenage (15 & 17), dog-loving sons that interact with the dogs. Both adults work from home with one of them working from the dog business every day during the week.

All we need is their food in ziploc bag(s) labeled with their name and portion sizes. We feed twice daily. It does help some dogs to have a comfort item with the scent of home. A toy or blanket typically.
We have elevated beds, leashes, food dishes, toys, etc.
If they have medications or supplements, please provide them with detailed instructions.
